Aims and Objectives

The Music department aims to inspire and motivate young people to become creative and confident musicians. It aims to deliver music lessons that are enjoyable and based around practical activities that encourage self expression. We strive to ensure pupils gain excellent practical skills on two or more instruments, have a sound theoretical knowledge and develop a passion for the subject that continues throughout their lives.

The wide range of styles covered during music lessons ensures depth of learning and allows excellent cross curricular opportunities that contribute to personal, intellectual, social and cultural growth.

Our pupils are given many opportunities to perform as soloists and as part of a group both in lessons and in the many extracurricular activities within the department.
