On entry of any child, Primary or Secondary, to the School, a Pupil Details Form is issued to the Parents. On this form we ask for particulars of any medical condition which should be drawn to our attention. It is also important that we are given an Emergency Contact Number so that, in the event of a child taking suddenly ill, we can contact a parent or relative as quickly as possible. The Medical Form is re-issued for verification of accuracy at the beginning of each session. Please ensure that we are informed of any medication which has to be taken by a pupil during the course of the school day.
The School receives scheduled visits from the Schools' Medical Service and pupils are offered regular medical inspection in addition to the inoculations and immunisations recommended at various stages. The Nurse who visits the School on these occasions is always willing to give advice where it is sought.
Parents are informed immediately if there is an accident within the school. Superficial injuries will be treated by the member of staff responsible for this area. More serious injuries are referred immediately to hospital. If parents are unable to reach the School within a short time, children can be taken directly to hospital but parents will always be notified of this decision. We currently have 5 members of staff who have received training in First Aid by the British Red Cross Society.
