Fernhill School is a Catholic School and the majority of its pupils are Roman Catholic. Religious Education forms an important part of the work of every class in the School, both Primary and Secondary. We aim to help our pupils to grow in faith and value Christian living.
The children participate in daily prayer and regular weekly assemblies are held in both Departments. The School Chaplain provides opportunities for the pupils to take responsibility for the preparation of Class and School Masses. We actively encourage full pupil participation in the religious services of the school community. Our pupils also have the opportunity to develop in a Spiritual manner by attending retreats and conferences in the Diocese of Motherwell. In addition, the pupils are encouraged to involve themselves in a wide range of charity work including support for the work of Pro-Life, Lepra, SCIAF, St Vincent de Paul Society and SIR. We view this work as an important part of our pupils’ education and development as caring members of society.
Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation is an integral part of the Primary Curriculum. We celebrate the Sacraments in our local community at St Mark’s Church, Rutherglen.
